Ode to Roku 2 XS

Who knew Brian May owned a Roku 2 XS?

It started off so well
They said we made a perfect pair
I clothed myself in your glory and your love
How I loved you, how I cried

Years of care and loyalty
Were nothing but a sham it seems
Years belie, we lived the lie
“I love you ’til I die”

Save me, save me, save me
I can’t face this life alone
Save me, save me, save me
I’m naked and I’m far from home

The slate will soon be clean
I’ll erase the memories
To start again with somebody new
Was it all wasted, all that love ?

I hang my head and I advertise
A soul for sale or rent
I have no heart, I’m cold inside
I have no real intent

Save me, save me, save me
I can’t face this life alone
Save me, save me
Oh, I’m naked and I’m far from home

Each night I cry
And still believe the lie
“I love you until I die”

Save me, save me, save me, oh
Just save me, save me, oh, save
Don’t let me face my life alone
Save me, save me
Oh, I’m naked and I’m far from home

    • I have six Rokus. Three are the Roku 2 XS model. I had them about a year before Roku rolled out an update that broke wireless Plex streaming. After denying the problem then blaming file formatting and finally Plex programmers, Roku relented and let us roll back to the previous firmware — which amazingly solved the problem. The last two updates have broken a lot of the most important channels — netflix, plex, and hulu plus. Again, this was blamed on everything except the update — certain files on Plex, HuluPlus, Netflix, certain files on Netflix, memory cards, private channels, heat, a failing power supply, inadequate household power, unusual network problems, screen savers, themes, and a bunch of other things. Another update has been released which is bricking the streamers.

Right now, my Rokus are unplugged. When — if — they release a stable release, I will revisit the problem. Right now, we are streaming with Amazon Fire TVs.
